Impenetrable ruby ​​black core and narrow purple rim. As is typical of Vargellas Vinha Velha, the nose is harmoniously balanced and complete, revealing multiple layers and dimensions of aroma as it opens in the glass. The base is a dense black fruit coulis, with aromas of wild blackberries, cassis and black cherry. The voluptuous richness of the fruit is tempered by an attractive mineral stone and the discreet pungency of wild herbs and cedar wood. As the wine evolves, evocative aromas such as beeswax, leather and cigar box emerge, like the unexpected resonances of an old instrument. The palate is supported by thick, granular tannins and is packed with a dense red and black fruit flavor that rises in crescendo on the finish.
